Think of That

All good books make us think.  They make us think, feel and act differently.  We don’t see ourselves, the world of the people around us in the same way ever again.  Also, we can never go back.

Please comment what your book made you think of. Be sure to tell us the title and author.

The Blog Rubric

Blog Rubric

The purpose of the Blog is to serve as a safe place for students in English 10 to discuss literature that we are currently reading. It really serves as a classroom discussion on line. As an educational arena, responses should be well thought out, honest and sincere. I am a “blog snob” which means that correct punctuation, grammar, spelling, capitalization, etc. are essential parts of the assessment. Please think before you blog. As the administrator of the blog site, I will approve any responses before they are published. The following is a Rubric to guide you.

95-100 – A minimum of 4 responses per quarter (with 2 appearing before the 5 week mark). Responses are clear and well developed, using ABC style paragraphs for organization with essentially no errors in conventions. The responses display serious analysis of the statement and interaction with other bloggers exhibiting tolerance of other points of view. Writing has a sense of voice and varies sentence length with stylistically sophisticated use of language.

85-94 – A minimum of 4 responses per quarter (with 2 appearing before the 5 week mark). Responses are well developed using ABC style paragraphs. Occasional errors that do not hinder comprehension. There is interaction with other bloggers. Fluent language.

75-84 – A minimum of 4 responses per quarter (with 2 appearing before the 5 week mark). Some ideas are more developed than others. Occasional errors begin to hinder comprehension. Appropriate language.

65-74 – a minimum of 4 responses per quarter (with 2 appearing before the 5 week mark).
Simple development or plot summary with basic vocabulary. Occasional/frequent errors hinder comprehension.

Below 65 – fewer than 4 responses. Minimal or no evidence of textual understanding. Responses lack development and organization. Frequent errors. Late entries
